Video Deconstruction

For my video deconstruction, I definitely had the idea on how the media portrays people, specifically women. So with this idea, my original video was going to be how the media portrays women, but how most of their information is false. Not a lot of people notice how fake pictures can be with photoshop and they think that the person actually looks like that. With the videos that I found online, I noticed that people felt very influenced by how the media portrays women but not in a good way. I noticed that a lot of these women started feeling bad about themselves and how they ended up just feeling very insecure. With this new information that I noticed I decided to change my idea slightly. So the video that I did was, "How the media portrays women can affect their insecurities and self-love."  The videos that I used in my video were all found online on youtube and a lot of the voices that I used were just bits of ted talks. The message that I wanted to get across was self-love

Performance Art with Marcus

Image
Performance Art is a very interesting concept. From what we've learned in class it's kind of like a public experiment to see how people react. My 3 favorite videos that we watched in class was the flash mob, the orchestra, and the frozen people at the train station. The flash mob video that we watched in class with Oprah and the black-eyed peas was very funny and cool. At first, it just looked like there was one crazy fan dancing by herself, but as the song went on each section joined her dancing. I liked how there were so many people involved with it and the reactions they got towards their performance. The next performance art piece that I really enjoyed in class was the orchestra. In the beginning, there was only one person playing an instrument and one by one more people would come out and join him and they made a whole ensemble by the end. I also liked watching people's reaction towards this piece because of how surprised they would get as another person would join the

Music

Latin World: Daddy Yankee Girl Power: Avril Lavigne Nineties:  Destiny’s Child, Spice Girls, Backstreet boys, NSYNC Electronic: Martin Garrix Punk: Paramore   Daddy Yankee - Gasolina When I think of any Spanish music my mind always goes towards the songs Gasolina or Danza Kudoro, which are my favorites. One of my favorite Spanish artist’s is Daddy Yankee. Most people know Daddy Yankee from the song Despacito, ft. Justin Bieber. The technology used in this video were the cars that were racing each other in the video. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCF1_jI8Prk Avril Lavigne - Sk8er Boi Going through the list of girl power in class and not seeing Avril Lavigne on there was a huge shock to me, but I also realized that she was more of an icon for me as a girl growing up. She influenced a lot of younger girls with her music and style. The technology that is used in this video is during her “concert”. In the video she stops in the middle of the street with a

Ascii art is a very interesting type of art, and in my opinion it’s very cool. This is the type of “computer art” I first saw when I was younger. I didn’t know that it had a name to it but Ascii art was very popular during my childhood. I always wanted to learn how to do it but it is more complex than you would think. Ascii art is one of those things that take a lot more time to do then one would think. Also, some people wouldn’t consider Ascii to be a art, but for me I do consider it as art but that’s just my opinion. While looking through the pictures of this art you can tell how the bigger pictures take a lot more time. The bigger pictures take a lot of time because I bet that there’s a lot of planning to do before hand. You don’t just start typing random numbers, letters, and symbols. You have to know which symbols work the best and the placement of them. I feel like there would be a lot of guessing and checking with this art, which is a lot easier than doing other art. With ot

Xerox

Image
For the Xerox project, I only used what was on my face to make my project. I made about 7 copies of my face from the Xerox machine and then I decided what to do after I made the copies. At first, I had a completely different idea and was going to use my face and hands with something. Then I saw that we were doing it on art movements so I started to research some. The most interesting one that I found was cubism or cubist. The most famous artist that used this type of technique in his art was Picasso. After I went through some of his artwork I picked out my favorite pieces and tried to be inspired by that. So with my project, I ended up cutting out pieces of my eyebrows, eyes, nose, and mouth. After that, I taped it over one of the copied pictures that didn't turn out very well. As you can see from the pictures above you can kind of see how I did things. I actually liked doing this project I thought that it was very interesting and fun. I kind of wish I would've

Grid art

Image
For my grid project, I decided to make a rainbow. I was having a conversation with my friends and someone mentioned that there was going to be a pride parade in Tampa next weekend. This is what gave me the idea to make a rainbow. So for my project, the supplies I got was a poster board, paint, a magazine, froot loops, and cotton balls. The first thing that I did for this project is cut my poster board so it wasn't too big. Then I painted the background blue. After seeing the background I thought that it was too boring and wanted to add more to it. So, I got a magazine and anything that was blue in it, I cut it out. I broke the pictures into smaller pieces and taped it over the paint. I liked how this looked a lot better after. Next, I separated the froot loops into the different colors and glued those down in the ROYGBV order. Lastly, I added cotton balls for the clouds.

Flip Book

The flip book I created was about the ocean. I decided to do different things that had to do with ocean and ocean life. I added in sea life, boats, and fishing. I decided to do my flip book on the ocean because of my past trip during Spring Break. For spring break I went to Mexico and I spent a lot of my time hanging out at the beach so I decided that the ocean/beach would be a fun topic to do my flip book on.

21st Century Technology

21st Century Technology: Self-driving trucks    As a lot of us know, automation will be taking over the world in the future. For those that don’t know what automation is, it’s technology by which a process or procedure is performed without human assistance. The type of automation I wanted to focus my paper on is self-driving cars. More specifically, self-driving tesla semi trucks. The reason why I wanted to talk about this is because this is a big idea that people have started creating and I think it will be the future of our cars with this new technology. There are both pros and cons to having self-driving cars. A pro is that it can give more jobs to people. As technology in our world becomes better it is able to give people more jobs in the engineering field for example. Something that Tesla caught was that there’s a driver shortage with truck drivers. That way they can fill those spots with the self-driving trucks. Also, trucking is a very brutal job. People have to stay away

Broadway Shows

Going through  Angel de Quinta's Stage Door blog I really enjoyed it. For me, I can relate a lot to this blog because I've seen a lot and have been apart of a few musicals. When going through his blog I wanted to do this post on one of my favorite Broadway shows. Some of my favorite Broadway shows that I've seen are, Lion King, Hairspray, and Aladdin, but my all-time favorite is Wicked.  I really like Wicked not only because it's the whole backstory of  "The Wizard's of OZ", but this has some of the best music that I've heard in a Broadway show because of how powerful the singing is.  I did watch both clips that were provided on the blog about Wicked. The first performance was the song Wonderful. To be honest that isn't one of my favorite songs in the show. The other clip that he put up was Defying Gravity, which is one of my favorite songs in Wicked. This is one of those powerful songs that I was talking about before. The person that's singi

Opera - Madame Butterfly

Madame Butterfly 1904 Giacomo Puccini Madame Butterfly is an Opera that was premiered in 1904 composed by Giacomo Puccini. I explain this opera as a hopeless romantic love story of a Japanese girl Cio-Cio-San, or Madame, and a white American man, Pinkerton. Madame is a geisha wife, which is basically a girl that entertains men with conversation, dancing, and singing. When Pinkerton shows up they end up “falling in love” and they get married. Before he leaves for sea they make love and she ends up getting pregnant. As the opera is going on she’s just waiting for him return back home with their child. I like to describe this opera as a hopeless romantic love story because Madame believed that he was in love with her just as much that she was in love with him. She didn’t want to listen to anyone else and what they had to say about their relationship. Even when she was offered to still be a geisha she turned it down, because she’s married now and she has to wait for her husband to

Madama Butterfly  Madama Butterfly was a very interesting animation, and I haven't seen something like this before. It was a little bit harder to follow because there were no words and we had to realize what was going on from the different scenes. We are able to follow what happens by their actions, emotions, and even colors.  Like I said before I haven't seen something like this before and it was a little strange for me to watch. I don't really have the creative mindset to fully understand what was exactly happening in the video. I'll explain later in the blog post but it did take me a while to fully understand the ending. I just had to use the actions and emotions of the characters to realize what had happened.   From the start of the video, we could tell that something bad may happen to her in the future because of the dark/black background that was happening in the beginning. Another thing I noticed with color is that when a good thing was happening to her in

Combining two images

Image
Baroque Butterfly            For the project of combining two images and creating a new one I decided to make a "Baroque Butterfly". First off I wanted to do something that was dedicated to the lesson we learned this week in class. In Art and Technology, we learned a lot about the Baroque era, history, fashion, etc. So I decided to use a Baroque style knife and Baroque skirts, with a Baroque design on the skirt. I'm not a very artistic person but when I think of art I usually think of nature, so that's why I used a buterfly. Something that butterfly wings and Baroque fashion have in common is that they both creative designs on them so I thought that went together well.

B2 - Raul Cuero

While watching the video on Living Smart, I learned a lot about Raul Cuero. His life story, his accomplishments, his adversity, and his tips in life. In 1948 Raul Cuero was born in Columbia. He comes from a family of 7 who never had much in life. When he was young he started to be very observant of things, such as the roaches on the floor that he would study because he didn't have a bed to sleep in. As Raul got older he realized that he had to break away from his town if he ever wanted to make something of himself. This is why he got interested in sports such as, soccer and basketball but basketball was the main thing that helped him. He ended up being on his national team, graduated college, moved to America, and eventually became a Microbiologist. In the video, we get concepts from him that we can apply to our everyday life.  One concept that we can apply to our everyday life is not limiting yourself to what society thinks of you. This is something that Raul said in the video

Blog Post 1- Art and Technology         Hi, my name is Malia Bryant and this is my first blog post for my class Art and Technology. I was gonna start off by talking about myself, in other words, who I am. I am 19 years old and I'm from Illinois, about 40 minutes outside of Chicago. I am a freshman at The University of Tampa and I'm majoring in cybersecurity. For people who don't know what that is I recommend just Googling it, but for a simpler saying it's like professional hacking (legal). My dream job is to either work for the FBI or a big company. Other things about me, I like to stay active, hang out with friends, and watch movies. Lastly, I have a dog named Magic.         Before I get into my first feelings of the class I want to explain why I picked it. So like most people at a college you have to take some type of art class/classes. There are lots of different ones to take but for me, this one seemed the most interesting to me. Art with computers or some ty
