Blog Post 1- Art and Technology

Hi, my name is Malia Bryant and this is my first blog post for my class Art and Technology. I was gonna start off by talking about myself, in other words, who I am. I am 19 years old and I'm from Illinois, about 40 minutes outside of Chicago. I am a freshman at The University of Tampa and I'm majoring in cybersecurity. For people who don't know what that is I recommend just Googling it, but for a simpler saying it's like professional hacking (legal). My dream job is to either work for the FBI or a big company. Other things about me, I like to stay active, hang out with friends, and watch movies. Lastly, I have a dog named Magic.
Before I get into my first feelings of the class I want to explain why I picked it. So like most people at a college you have to take some type of art class/classes. There are lots of different ones to take but for me, this one seemed the most interesting to me. Art with computers or some type of technology also seems the most fun to me. I have taken previous classes in graphic design, photoshop, and things like that. This class seemed different from that but still has the technology base of it. So my first feelings of the class were a little weird. I didn't read the syllabus until the professor did. So basically I didn't know that we had to do these blogs. I find it a little different and interesting but we'll see how this goes. I also had a different idea in mind of Art and Technology than what we will actually be doing in class. I'm still a little confused on what we're gonna learn and do in this class, but it still seems pretty interesting to me so I'll stick with it.
So like I just said I didn't know much of what I was expecting but my mind did change a little. Personally, I thought we were going to be using computers in a way to make different types of art. I think we will more be learning about different types of art and in some way connecting certain things of technology with it. I expect to learn a lot more about art, not in the painting or drawing way but more of a performing art side to it. I expect to become more creative throughout this class and challenge myself with certain projects we have to make. Also, I noticed that this class has a lot of art majors, or new media, or some type of artsy/creative major so maybe there are things I will be able to learn from them. Or at least see how other people's projects turn out or see how the discussions we will have in class will be like. Something that I for sure know that I'm expecting from this class is that it will be interesting and maybe even fun.
