Broadway Shows
Going through Angel de Quinta's Stage Door blog I really enjoyed it. For me, I can relate a lot to this blog because I've seen a lot and have been apart of a few musicals. When going through his blog I wanted to do this post on one of my favorite Broadway shows. Some of my favorite Broadway shows that I've seen are, Lion King, Hairspray, and Aladdin, but my all-time favorite is Wicked.
I really like Wicked not only because it's the whole backstory of "The Wizard's of OZ", but this has some of the best music that I've heard in a Broadway show because of how powerful the singing is. I did watch both clips that were provided on the blog about Wicked. The first performance was the song Wonderful. To be honest that isn't one of my favorite songs in the show. The other clip that he put up was Defying Gravity, which is one of my favorite songs in Wicked. This is one of those powerful songs that I was talking about before. The person that's singing it, Idina Menzel, has a very strong voice and was great for this role and the songs she had to perform in this show.
Like I said before, The Lion King was also one of my favorite Broadway Shows that I saw. I was going to Angel de Quinta's blog but I couldn't find a post on the lion king but I still wanted to talk about. The thing that I loved the most about the Broadway show of The Lion King was the makeup and the costumes they had to wear. I remember the first time I saw it that's the first thing that caught my eye. I recommend to everyone to see this show, especially if you were a fan of the movie when you were younger you will really enjoy it. Also, the way that the stage is set up is also really cool.
Lastly, I wanted to talk about Hairspray. Hairspray I've seen a couple of times and I've been in this musical. Hairspray was during the times of the 60's which was when segregation was occurring. I like hairspray so much probably because of the message of the story. It doesn't matter the color of your skin, what you like, or how popular you are. As long as you have a good heart and talent that's enough. It's also one of my favorites because of the songs and dances in it. They also had a couple powerful scenes that recognized the issues that were going on at that time. It wasn't just a typical starcrossed love story, and there was more of a meaning to the story.
